Summit County Lead Hazard Reduction Program

The County of Summit partners with the Summit County Public Health District to administer the Lead Hazard Reduction Program (SCLHR).

The program is designed to reduce lead-based paint hazards in homes built before 1978 where children under the age of 6 reside or visit the home more than 60 hours per year.  Owner-occupied housing and rental units are eligible for assistance throughout Summit County.

To qualify, applicants must meet the income guidelines, have current homeowners' insurance, and be current on their property taxes.  Rental units must be registered with the Summit County Fiscal Office and the community where the property is located, if applicable.

Assistance is available through a 5-year, deferred, forgivable mortgage.  Landlords will be responsible for 20% of the contractor’s final bid.  Services may include: window replacement, siding, porch replacement/repair, and door replacement/repair.
