Reverse Alert

What is Reverse Alert?
Reverse Alert is a unique component of the County of Summit Emergency Notification and Warning System. The service is capable of warning citizens of severe health and safety threats by sending emergency messages to email addresses, devices for the hard of hearing, and telephone lines (including business lines, cellular phones, and home numbers).

When will Reverse Alert be activated?
Reverse Alert will be activated in the event of an imminent threat to health and safety in your community, such as Amber Alerts, boil water alerts, or evacuation orders. Reverse Alert messages are sent to specific geographic locations based on the nature and scope of the emergency. This ensures that only those in the affected area receive critical alerts relevant to their safety and well-being.

Who receives Reverse Alert emergency messages?
Reverse Alert messages are sent to Summit County residents and businesses with published landline numbers listed in the white pages. Residents can also receive alerts by registering their mobile phones, email addresses, or other communication devices, along with their physical address, to ensure they receive location-specific emergency notifications.

If I am already listed, why do I need to register my personal contact information?
The more communication methods you register with Reverse Alert—such as mobile phones, emails, or text messages—the greater the likelihood you’ll receive emergency notifications quickly and reliably.
