Housing Rehabilitation Program
Summit County receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the CDBG and HOME programs to provide a number of housing-oriented programs for low-to-moderate income individuals living within Summit County, but outside the Cities of Akron, Barberton or Cuyahoga Falls. Rental properties and mobile homes are not eligible for assistance.
Lead Safe is available to qualified residents in all Summit County communities and does not require a child in the home or a lead test. The Lead Safe program utilizes the Housing Rehabilitation Loan application.
Applicants must meet the current income guidelines, have current homeowners insurance and be current on their property taxes. Qualified applicants will receive assistance through a 5 year, deferred, forgivable loan. Assistance may include, health and safety repairs, roof replacement and energy efficiency repairs.
