Foreign Trade Zone 181 (FTZ 181)

Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) are secure areas under US Customs and Border Protect supervision that are generally considered to be outside of US Commerce for tax purposes.

FTZ may exempt goods in transit, which are not for United States commerce, from duties, taxes, or import quotas. An FTZ may also defer goods in transit, which are intended for United States commerce, from duties, taxes, or import quotas up to the point that it should enter the United States commerce.

The Foreign Trade Zone designation grants a corporation unique opportunities within Foreign Trade Zones by providing local manufacturing or industrial facilities located in the Zone quicker access to foreign trade products, in addition to the advantage of reduced or delayed taxes, duties, and/or insurance costs on those goods.
