“12 Rules for Staying Safe”

1. Trust yourself! Don’t give in to peer pressure.
2. Don’t do drugs.
3. Don’t use alcohol.
4. Never play with guns.
5. Don’t smoke.
6. Never give out personal information in chat rooms.
7. Don’t talk to or go with anyone you don’t know.
8. Say NO to unwanted touch!
9. Never tell anyone you are home alone.
10. Say NO to gangs.
11. Stop bullies in their tracks! Always tell an adult.
12. Violence at home is never okay! Your home should be a safe place.

SIZE: Posters are to be 8 1⁄2 x 11 inches
MEDIUM: Paint, crayon, colored pencil, or marker
COLOR: Any or all colors (black & white make powerful statements, too!)

ALL ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PRINTED CLEARLY ON THE BACK OF THE POSTER:

  1. Artist Name School
  2. Age
  3. Grade


RULES FOR CONTEST

1. Judging for the Safety Kids Poster Contest will be done by a special committee selected by the Summit County Prosecutor. This committee will be made up of members of the schools, law enforcement, judicial community, county government, and community representatives.
2. All posters will be selected from grades 6 – 8 with one (1) grand prize winner, twelve (12) first place winners, twelve (12) second place winners, twelve (12) third place winners, and eleven (11) honorable mentions.
3. Safety Kids Poster Contest entries may NOT contain cut outs of graphics or direct representation drawings containing any copyrighted characters, symbols or logos.
4. Entries containing negative or derogatory racial/ethnic stereotypes will be eliminated.
5. Poster MUST relate to one of our “12 Rules for Staying Safe”.
6. All spelling and grammar must be correct in posters.
7. Each entry MUST have the name of the student, age, grade and school on the back of the poster.
8. One rule per poster.
9. One poster per contestant.
