            Prosecutor, January 1, 2001 to present

            Responsible for the prosecution of criminals charged with felony offenses and juvenile delinquents.  Also responsible for enforcing child support orders and protecting neglected or abused children.  Job duties include providing legal advice to Summit County Townships and governmental entities and representing the County of Summit and all County agencies.  In addition, job duties include the supervision of approximately 300 employees who are assigned to the various divisions of the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office:  Criminal Division, Civil Division, Juvenile Division, Appeals Division, Crime Victim Services Division, Tax Division and Child Support Enforcement Agency.

            Responsibilities included research and writing with concentration on civil rights cases in Federal Court.  Also responsible for drafting legislation for the City of Akron. 

            Assistant City Prosecutor, 1986-1988

            Responsibilities included the prosecution of criminal and traffic misdemeanor offenses in the Akron Municipal Court and conducting preliminary hearings on felony cases.  Experience included over 50 jury trials and over 100 trials to the court.  Responsibilities also included preparation of appellate briefs and oral arguments in criminal cases appealed to the Ninth District Court of Appeals. 

            Police Legal Advisor, 1989-1990

            Position required being on call 24 hours a day to provide legal advice, authorize misdemeanor and felony offenses, and draft search warrants for the City of Akron, University of Akron, Fairlawn, Richfield, Bath, Lakemore, Mogadore, State Highway Patrol and Springfield Township Police Departments.  Additional responsibilities included interviewing adult and child victims of violent crimes, in-service training of police officers on various criminal issues, training of new police officers, training of new prosecutors, supervision of the Akron Felony Courtroom, conducting preliminary hearings in felony cases, and handling appeals in the Ninth District Court of Appeals. 

Assistant Director of Law, 1990

            Assigned to handle litigation in the Civil Division of the Law Department which involved defending the City in the Federal District Court, the Summit County Common Pleas Court, the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit and the Ohio Court of Appeals, Ninth District. Concentration on 42 U.S.C. Section 1983 cases.
